The PEI is the co-ordinator of the Equal development partnership „Many things are possible – tandem partners in science“. The project is a job market policy model funded by the EU. The aim of this model is to improve vocational training/further qualification and employment opportunities of disabled employees in the field of science and research. The development partnership intends to adapt work processes to the needs of the disabled in the context of the working life in science. Confidence has grown among disabled academics. In the context of the development project, they wish to demonstrate their own skills and express their needs as ”experts of their own affairs“. In addition, better access to aids equipment shall be provided for the disabled. A declared goal is a broader choice of qualified positions in science.
The involvement of companies and universities is designed to help enhance the performance of the disabled in various areas. The development partnership intends to strengthen and increase the readiness of companies, authorities, and universities to employ disabled persons.
The idea of „Many things are possible – tandem partners in science“ is to act as a model for other areas of research and science.
